This is the third tune I’ve had the good luck to produce for the very talented Catesby Jones (remember “Country Club”?) and I am so excited about this record we are doing! His songwriting is “the real thing”, not to mention his extremely cool style of guitar playing, which knocks me out. I am a lucky guy to be doing this!

So on Mondays this is what we do at Brunswick Community College in Southport: learn how to Record And Produce music! This is a quickie iPhone-cam video of my guys working on this version of “Picture Book” that we did in class-studying the masters (The Kinks), and what they did in the past to record a pop classic. All digital now, of course-but the principles are the same. Yay!

This has been such a wonderful project to be involved in!! Meeting Rich was yet another result from Louisa Branscomb’s Southport Songwriter Festival last year–only Rich wasn’t actually performing yet with any regularity. Since then we’ve made this cool record (getting it ready for the plant now)which will be released soon! I love his songs and he has a beautiful voice! I have had him here for several open-mics and he’s always made people stop and listen. Yay! Stay tuned for release info!

I owe a debt of gratitude to Louisa Branscomb for getting me next to Catesby Jones-at The Southport Songwriter’s Festival last year! We immediately hit it off and this is the second of many more to come recordings we are working on. He had me with this one the first time I heard it:
