Wait

Hoover/Stoeckel

Not a sound just open your eyes
make yourself wait
leave the ground and slip through the skies
Spinning through air now as we fly to our fate
rising up as I hold your face
moving slow
fall into our warm silk embrace
waiting for the moment when we're falling below

RIGHTEOUS SIDE OF LOVE

Don Dixon

looking out a window twenty stories high
time for resurrection or learning how to fly
since it's a crime to fall to pieces
i'm in a prison with a view
looking through magazines with ufos & big-foot sightings to

living on the left side of freedom
living on the righteous side of love
living on the left side of freedom
living on the other side
the righteous side of love

all the empty shackles hanging on the walls
of all the padded bedrooms that line these angry halls
always afraid to fight for nothing
i never reached too deep inside
you had to pick me up & dust me off & teach me not to hide

i take out my dreams in the night
open my eyes in the morning
feel them explode in the light
try to remember the warning

walking through the doorway with lightning in my eyes
reaching out for something to reconstruct my life
i'll never count on you forever
nothing this good could last that long
you gave me all you could
when time was short & loving you was wrong

living on the left side of freedom
living on the righteous side of love
living on the left side of freedom
living on the other side
the righteous side of love

Fame and fortune, it will find our way. If that’s….
what we’re after, together, yeah someday....
Lets be…..independent together, me and you
Cause If you’ll save me-then I can save you too.

Oh ho ho—I’ll throw a lasso-and pull the moon to you-If that’s….
what your needing, deliver it today to you?....Let’s be…..the home team together, me and you
Cause If you’ll save me-then I’ll save you too.

We will make such beautiful music-together, you and I...
Oh…we will dance to our own music-we’re in love!
And baby, that is why….I want you, so…

Fame and fortune, it will find our way. If that’s….
what we’re after, together, yeah someday....
Lets be…..independent together, you and I
If you’ll save me- then I can save you too.

It’s easy-we can play a game together
There’s only two rules..
It’s so easy-oh, it’s so easy!
You’ll let me in-and I’ll let you…save me.

I’ll throw a lasso-and pull the moon to you-If that’s….
what your needing, deliver it today to you?....Let’s be…..the home team together, me and you
And if you’ll save me-then I’ll save you too.
..….if you’ll save me-then I can save you too.
..….if you’ll save me-then I can save you too.

Misery

Lennon/McCartney

I'm the kind of guy
Who never used to cry
The world is treating me bad... Misery!

I've lost her now for sure
I won't see her no more
It's gonna be a drag... Misery

I'll remember all the little things we've done
Can't she see she'll always be the only one, only one

Send her back to me
Cos everyone can see
Without her I will be in misery

I'll remember all the little things we've done
She'll remember and she'll miss her only one, lonely one

Send her back to me
Cos everyone can see
Without her I will be in misery (Oh oh oh)
In misery (Ooh ee ooh ooh)
My misery (La la la la la la)

Lost

Hoover/Stoeckel

You didn’t loose your best friend…
And though you’d felt like it ended…..it only changed….things you depended on… rearranged themselves….
You haven’t lost your best friend.

I know your heart’s gonna’ mend….
It’s just a matter of now…and then…..you’ll know it all in time…
You didn’t loose your best friend…

It’s just a another way….to share our love.

It’s just another way…it’s another day…another way to say it….as our love grows.

You’d never lost your best friend...
It sounds open-ended…I gotta say….things you rely on….seem to sway this scene, but I swear you haven’t …lost your best friend.
I’m here….still here…..always here….goodnight.

Honest Work

Hoover/Walters

I get up in the morning and all I wanta do is honest work….(honest work…honest work)
Not trying to change the world from an oyster to a pearl-just honest work….(honest work…honest work)
No savior here….I’m just getting through my time of honest work……honest work.
And I’ll drink a beer…end of the day is near for me and honest work….(honest work…honest work)

Here’s my resume’……my two hand’s displayed.
Fall into the grand design….as I take my place in line.

Might not survive the day but all I’m tryin’do is stay in honest work….(honest work…honest work)
Like falling off a log again I stumble through the fog of honest work….(honest work…honest work)
I’m still in the red….but I can sleep when I am dead from honest work……honest work.
Don’t put up your nose…I’ll see they don’t foreclose….(with honest work…honest work)

I salute my past……as I raise my glass.
I’ll jump back in and really score….I am only 54.
(He’ll Jump in and really score…he is only 54!)

Nothing could be finer than to be in Carolina-honest work!
(Money I owe IA…

Georgia Rose

Wann/Simpson

We met one summer on half moon island She was 13, I was…11, at least
I knew there was something different about Georgia Rose
By the way she held her arms out to the dark blue sea

On our bikes we’d see the postman-Mr. Murdock
He’d holler out “Hey kids-how’s the ride?”
One day Georgia Rose said she saw a cloud around him…
Next morning we heard Mr Murdock…had a heart attack and died.

Georgia Rose came to me and said “Don’t Tell…
It’s been going on so long I can’t turn it off.
I see things that are going to happen…
I hate it, I can’t help it…it’s not my fault!”

Go on and cry your eyes out…it’ll do no good, you know.
You’re born to see the future…if your name is Georgia Rose.

We didn’t say anything about it for the rest of the summer…
Vacation ended, and we drove home to our different towns…
I went to Woolworth’s and bought my first stationary,
A box of blue with a blue strip…a box of brown with a brown.

Georgia Rose sent me these neat, chatty letters….
Until one day in February a scrawled card came…
Unlike the rest that said “Don’t worry ‘bout your father…
He’ll be much happier-don’t fear-no one’s to blame.”

Next morning daddy gathered us around him…
Said he was in love and he was going away..
He hugged us and cried and drove out the drive…
We went on to school, it was Valentine’s Day.

Go on and cry your eyes out…it’ll do no good, you know.
You’re bound to feel the future…if your friend is Georgia Rose.

We didn’t write…anymore then….and it was a long, long time before I saw her…again.

August 21st on Half Moon Island…it was my birthday-friends were with me….
Sitting on the screen porch….of an old-weathered, shingled house….
Off in the dunes I saw a woman….stretch her arms out to the sea.

I left the party and walked out to her..
she said, without turning-“What took you so long?”
In her eyes I saw a great, ruined beauty…
in that instant who knows what it was….she saw?”

Georgia Rose lived with me for a time out of time…
we had a passion that was all-in-all...
One day her eyes changed and I knew she was saying….
”I hate it, I can’t help it…it’s not my fault!”

Go on and cry your eyes out…it’ll do no good, you know.
You’re born to lose the future if your love is Georgia Rose.

The time past….and I found me a new woman…
Maybe that’s what…Georgia Rose saw…
One day I spied her on the main street of my city..
She was trying to pretend I was someone…she didn’t know.

I said “Georgia Rose!” and she turned back to me…
With her hair all stringy….and circles...underneath her eyes.
She said I’m on my way to meet my new husband….
I don’t see that he changes…lies…or dies.

She said “I’m not in love, but I don’t care.
Maybe that’s the way…it has to be.
I deserve…a life and a future too….
I deserve…not to see.”

Go on and cry your eyes out…it’ll do no good, you know.
You’re born to see the future if your name is Georgia Rose.

Go on and cry your eyes out…it’ll do no good, you know.
You’re born to see the future if your name is Georgia Rose.
Georgia Rose.
Georgia Rose.

I’m Looking Through (With)You

Lennon/McCartney

I'm lookin' through you where did you go
I thought I knew you what did I know
You don't look different but you have changed
I'm looking through you you're not the same

Your lips are moving I cannot hear
Your voice is soothing but the words aren't clear
You don't sound different I've learned the game
I'm looking through you you're not the same

Why tell me why did you not treat me right
Love has a nasty habit of disappearing over night

You're thinking of me the same old way
You were above me but not today
The only difference is you're down there
I'm looking through you and I don’t know where
Yeah, I’m looking through you
You’ve changed

The Jim Joanne Massacre

Hoover

Out of the blue-one day-he wrote me a letter….
Must have had on his angora sweater…..
I should have figured it out-by the little circles-above his all his i’s…
Now it had been years since I’d…thought about him….
The last I’d seen him we were shootin’ in the gym…
But I had no idea then-those pumps had been…back-pedallin’,

Ya see….
Jim was Joann….Jim was Joann!
His original self….delivered as spam, signed Joann…
I’ll say it again-
Jim was Joann….Jim was Joann!
In the original plan…..not much of a man-
When it came to the glands-Jim was dealt a limp hand-
Jim was Joann….Jim was Joann!
Mm..mm…mm…mm.

Now it was…several days before I opened the email….
Signed in pink by a certain she…mail that I could have filtered out-but I wanted to
be…open-minded.
I just had to hit reply to this…girly talk….
The last thing I read from him was on a board-in chalk…
And way back then this menu…was not an option,

Ya see….
Jim was Joann….Jim was Joann!
Took his virtual pen “la plume”-and hit send, and signed Joann…
I’ll say it again-
Jim was Joann….Jim was Joann!
Yeah, the man up the stairs can be a dealer in kitsch
When it came to his poker-Jim held a joker picture..
Jim was Joann (say it sister) Jim was Joann! Mm..mm…mm…mm.

(solo) Ahh, play it Jimmy-boy….

Now I don’t know how….I could make a fuss
About one who likes to gussy up and take a walk on the wild side…
with nothing to hide-but roots and…high-heeled boots.
But sometimes I just…get it wrong…
like thinking those fingernails were painted, filed and…really long…
Cause Jim’s foundations I’d crossed upon…..were Joanne’s stationary….

I’d thought….
Jim was Joann….Jim was Joann! His original frock was a lightening shock-that turned on Joann!
I’ll say it again-I’d thought…
Jim was Joann….Jim was Joann!
Other side of the tracks-I thought-no more in slacks-
but when it came to his stance….still in the pants-
But not Joann’s…..no, not Joann’s.
Mm..mm…

Walk Away Renee

Brown/Callili/Sansone

And when I see the sign that points one way
The lot we used to pass by every day

Just walk away, Renee
You won't see me follow you back home
The empty sidewalks on my block are not the same
You're not to blame

From deep inside the tears that I'm forced to cry
From deep inside the pain that I chose to hide

Just walk away, Renee
You won't see me follow you back home
Now, as the rain beats down upon my weary eyes
For me, it cries

Just walk away, Renee
You won't see me follow you back home
Now, as the rain beats down upon my weary eyes
For me, it cries

Your name and mine inside a heart upon a wall
Still finds a way to haunt me though they're so small

Just walk away, Renee
You won't see me follow you back home
The empty sidewalks on my block are not the same
You're not to blame

Take Care Of You

Hoover

I first looked in your eyes, long ago...hard to believe, now it’s true…
It’s just like before and it’s still the same..
I wanted to take care of you, babe
…Just to take care of you…mmm

Couldn’t say how, but I knew you…somehow I’d seen you before…
De'javu lines….all from the stars….
Cause' I wanted to take care of you, little baby
…I would take care of you.

It such a simple thought now…hard to believe but it’s true.
You put you little hand in mine….it was so easy to do…..

Oh I….looked in your eyes long ago...hard to believe, still it’s true…
It’s just like before and it’s still the same..
I wanta take care of you-you're still my baby…
…I will take care of you
…I will take care of you
mmmmmm.

Star

Egan
So they made you a star,
Now your head's in a cloud.
Now you're walking down the street,
With your feet off the ground.

You read in the press all about your success.
You believe every word you've been told.
After all you've been through, tell me what will you do,
When you find yourself out in the cold?

Ah, tell me. Ah, tell me.

When you appear on the stage, there's a standing ovation.
You really live up to your performance; you're the biggest sensation.

You breeze through the door,
And when you take a floor,
You expect to have it all to yourself.
After all you've been through, tell me what will you do,
When you find yourself back on the shelf?

Ah, tell me. Ah, tell me.

You Breeze through the door,
And when you take a floor,
You expect to have it all to yourself.
After all you've been through, tell me what will you do,
When you find yourself back on the shelf?

Ah, tell me. Ah, tell me.

You Took The Birds

Hoover

Another morning-and everything seems the same
The wind blows the black key chimes-
the green grass still waves
But as the sun dries the dew,
and I’m missing you-then I realize-
you took away the birds…ah-you took away the birds.

You gave me the sky-I just stop to wonder why
you left me the night-
but you let the stars still shine on.
But it comes home to me-alone wondering-
just as the silence falls…
That you took away the birds…you took away the birds.

Ah…. Ah….ah…..
The best way to break my heart was to take the birds away….I want em' back.

The sun bakes the afternoon-the heat rises off the fields
The wind just inhales it all…
and makes me hold my breath...and listen
But as the sun lights only me…
as I hear a pin drop, I can hear and see-
you took away the birds…ah-you took away the birds.

There’s A Place

Lennon/McCartney

There is a place...Where I can go
When I feel low...When I feel blue
And it's my mind....
And there's no time when I'm alone

I think of you...the things you do
Go 'round my head....The things you said

Like "I love....I love only you"

In my mind there's no sorrow,
Don't you know that it's so?
There'll be no sad tomorrow,
Don't you know that it's so?

There is a place....Where I can go
When I feel low...When I feel blue
And it's my mind....
And there's no time when I'm alone

There's a place...

Oh Babe Take Me Home

Lind

Look down the ragged road behind us
The strangers that we used to be are lost along the way
Let’s look for something to remind us
Of lovers painting dreams across the skies of yesterday

How could we come so far-from what we really are?
Oh babe-take my hand-lead me back where the road began
Oh babe-take me home-bring me back to myself again

Some nights I lye awake and wonder
Longing to embrace the girl who used to have your name
Warm lips that tasted like the summer
Have melted and dissolved into the vacuum that remains

We’re on a brand new ground-every direction’s down
Oh babe-take my hand-lead me back where the road began
Oh babe-take me home-bring me back to myself again

Where are the valleys we expected?
When promises on silver wings were leading into time
So few mistakes can be corrected
Looking back at all your brave beginnings-going blind

What had become of me-my eyes refused to see
Oh babe-take my hand-lead me back where the road began
Oh babe-take me home-bring me back to myself again

We can’t put it back together-
But how can I return to what I was before we met?
Lost in the mountains we’ve come over
The setting sun is giving up a dying silhouette

Something along the line-has rearranged my mind
Oh babe-take my hand-lead me back where the road began
Oh babe-take me home-bring me back to myself again
